1. What is NAET?
The Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) is a diagnostic and treatment technique based on the principles of Chinese Medicine. It is a quick, painless, non-invasive, method for the diagnosis and permanent elimination of allergies and their symptoms.
It was developed by Dr Devi Nambudripad, a medical nurse, acupuncturist and kinesiologist, when she was searching for an answer to her own health problems. There are now over two thousand practitioners around the world who have significantly altered the lives of many thousands of people over the last 20 years.
NAET uses the principles of kinesiology and acupressure to permanently change the body’s response to allergens. It consists of two distinct methods.
Diagnosis
The diagnostic method used is Muscle Response Testing (MRT). It can be carried out directly or through an intermediary. When used directly, the practitioner finds a strong muscle in the patient, usually an arm. The item to be tested is held in one hand, whilst the other arm is extended. The strength of the arm is tested by applying pressure. When the patient is sensitive to the item, the arm will become weak.
If the patient is elderly, infirm or a child a surrogate is used as an intermediary between the practitioner and the patient. The intermediary holds the suspected allergen whilst touching the patient and the practitioner then tests the intermediary. This is also used when it would be unwise for the patient to come into contact with the item e.g. where the allergy is very severe and anaphylactic shock may result. We have over 300 substances available for testing, but other items can be tested. This method of testing is proven to be over 95% accurate.
Treatment
Once the sensitivities have been identified acupressure is used to correct the body’s response to the items. The item is then avoided for a period of 25 hours. Occasionally, in the case of severe allergies, an item may have to be treated more than once, or in combination with other substances, before it clears.
On a simplified level NAET re-educates the body to accept the allergen as a ‘good thing’, not a threat and to respond to it in an appropriate manner.

2. What is an Allergy?
Although the term "Allergy" has been used widely in the medical profession and the public sphere for decades, knowledge about the nature of allergies and their implications is still in its infancy.
Many people continue to think of allergies as a limited group of symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, hives, asthma, hay fever, or occasionally a severe response such as anaphylactic shock. Fortunately, increasing numbers of health professionals are beginning to recognise allergic reactions as factors in many illnesses and disorders. Allergies are understood to be an unusual sensitivity to certain substances which cause an inappropriate immune response.
An allergy may result from numerous causes, including repeated exposure to a particularly strong or toxic allergen which exhausts the body’s defences, or from events such as serious trauma, major surgery, anaesthetic, vaccinations, and emotional stresses such as loss of a loved one, marriage, child birth, moving house. Stress and anxiety will make a sufferer more sensitive to the allergen and symptoms will worsen. There are twelve Meridians or Energy lines in the body, the energy of an allergen will disrupt the flow of energy in one or more meridian, resulting in weakness or malfunction in organs associated with that meridian.
3. Allergy or intolerance?
In truly allergic cases the body will produce antibodies to an allergen. Various blood and skin tests can be used to diagnose these allergies. However, in less severe cases where sufferers are intolerant to allergens the body has not produced antibodies and the blood and skin tests often produce a negative result, particularly when food items are tested. This can be confusing to the sufferer, as they will know that certain items do produce an allergic type reaction. Muscle response testing from Kinesiology can successfully identify both true allergies and intolerances.4. What are the symptoms of an allergic reaction?
Allergies to certain items can cause many symptoms. These can be successfully removed permanently by NAET and include, but are not limited to the following:| Psoriasis Acne Eczema Hives Blistering Dry Skin Rashes Bladder Infections Kidney Infections Cystitis Thrush |
Poor Appetite Excessive Appetite IBS Crohn’s Flatulence Bloating Indigestion Heartburn Sinusitis Colds Tonsillitis/ Sore throats |
Asthma Bronchitis Cough Sneezing Catarrh Arthritis Osteoporosis Joint Pain Muscular Aches Unexplained pain PMS ADD/ ADHD |
Anxiety Depression Fatigue Insomnia |
5. Emotional NAET
It is possible for emotional blockages or ‘hang ups’ to occur following a traumatic event. Emotional issues can trigger various allergic symptoms as these too disturb the free flow of energy in the meridians. These can also be successfully removed by NAET.
